Set Up Your OpenAI API Key for BayBuster BYOK
BYOK gives you control over your own AI billing. If you choose a BayBuster Bring Your Own Key plan, you must create an OpenAI account, enable API billing, generate an API key, and paste that key into BayBuster app settings.

Step by step
Create the key, then save it in BayBuster
OpenAI only manages the API account and billing. BayBuster uses the key in the app to run listing assistance for your drafts.

Go to OpenAI Platform
Open platform.openai.com, then sign in or create an OpenAI account.

Add API billing
Open Billing and add a payment method or enough credits for API usage.

Create an API key
Go to API keys, create a new secret key, and copy it while OpenAI shows it.

Open BayBuster settings
In BayBuster, open Settings > AI Access > Bring Your Own Key.

Paste, save, and test
Paste the key, save it, then run AI fill on a draft listing.
Common mistakes
What to check if AI fill does not work
I have ChatGPT Plus or Pro. Why does my key not work?
ChatGPT subscriptions and OpenAI API billing are separate. A paid ChatGPT plan does not automatically cover API usage.
My key says insufficient quota.
OpenAI usually returns this when API billing is not enabled, your credits are empty, or your API account has a billing limit.
I copied the wrong key.
BayBuster needs an OpenAI Platform API secret key. It is not your ChatGPT password, not a recovery code, and not an account ID.
Billing is not enabled.
Add a payment method or credits in OpenAI Platform billing, then try AI fill again.
I deleted the key in OpenAI.
Deleted OpenAI keys stop working immediately. Create a new key and paste the new one into BayBuster.
The key was pasted with spaces.
Copy only the secret key text. Remove any spaces before or after it, then save again.
Security notes
- Never share your OpenAI API key.
- If the key is exposed, delete it in OpenAI and create a new one.
- BayBuster stores the key locally in iOS Keychain. The BayBuster website does not see or store it.
Cost notes
- OpenAI API charges are billed by OpenAI, not BayBuster.
- Costs depend on how much AI fill and listing help you use.
- BayBuster BYOK subscriptions do not include OpenAI API credits.
Open BayBuster Settings
Open the BayBuster app, then go to Settings > AI Access > Bring Your Own Key. Paste the OpenAI API key, save it, and run AI fill on a listing.
Prefer not to manage API billing?
Choose AI Included instead of BYOK.
If you do not want to create an OpenAI account, manage credits, or watch a separate usage dashboard, choose BayBuster AI Included when it is available.
